Frank Scalzo, 86, of Danbury, beloved husband of Concetta (Fiore) Scalzo, died May 1 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 7, 1928, in Casanove, DeCollatura, Italy, to Rosina (Bonacci) and Angelo Scalzo.

In addition to his cherished wife, he will be sadly missed by his six daughters, Angela Weber, and her husband Shawn, of Sandy Hook, Rose Hurlbut, and her husband Paul, of Redding, Christine Mead, and her husband David, of Danbury, Rachel Miller, and her husband George, of Pensacola, Fla., Teresa Scalzo, and her partner Frank Wilcox, of Danbury, and Franca Scalzo, and her fiancé William Guzman, of Danbury; his brother Gino Scalzo, and his wife Maria, of Italy; his sister-in-law Giannina Scalzo; his four treasured grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat. His brothers Interzino and Domenic Scalzo and sister Rachela Scalzo predeceased Mr Scalzo.

He was a devoted husband, and a loving father who especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a maintenance mechanic at National Can Corp until his retirement.

He loved gardening, playing cards, going to Amerigo Vespucci to hang out with friends, playing bocci, and watching soccer. Mr Scalzo was also known for his basketweaving and was interviewed by the Danbury New Times for his talent, which featured a picture of him with his many baskets.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 8, at 10:30 am, at St Peter’s Church, Main Street, Danbury. Entombment will follow at St Peter’s Mausoleum. Calling hours will be take place Wednesday, May 7, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, between 5 and 8 pm.
