DANBURY— US Senator Richard Blumenthal and 2nd District State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan joined with Action Together CT, a local community organization, on April 30, to deliver necessary food and supplies to two Danbury-area food banks.

“I am so inspired by the great work organizations like this do,” said Senator Blumenthal. “It is so important and impactful at this dark and dangerous moment in our history for people to know that there are places where their food insecurity can be overcome.”

“So many of our neighbors are struggling during this time,” said Representative Allie-Brennan. “In the face of such challenges and a shortage of food and resources at our local pantries, we wanted to join together to support our community.”

Based out of the Danbury Democratic Headquarters, and with support of local volunteers, the group delivered more than $8,000 and 2 tons of food and supplies to the Association of Religious Communities (ARC) and the Harambee Center for Youth in Danbury.

“This effort seamlessly brought together many of our leaders, volunteers and outside partners to get this worthy but herculean project done,” said Terra Volpe, President of Action Together CT. “We are deeply grateful to the people of the greater Danbury area for their generosity. And please, keep an eye out for our next food drive.”
