Motorists should expect temporary road closures at the Fairfield Hills Campus, and also some traffic delays on area roads as the 2nd Annual Wingathlon races are held on Saturday, May 7.

Traffic will be affected from 8:30 am to noon, police said.

The first event is a 5K run that starts at 9 am at Fairfield Hills. In that race, runners will remain on the campus. Consequently, several roads at the campus will be temporarily closed.

After that footrace, participants will ride in a 15-mile bicycle race on roads including Mile Hill Road South, Pecks Lane, Huntingtown Road, Castle Meadow Road, and Hattertown Road, and then return to campus along the same route. Traffic delays should be expected in those areas.

After bicyclists return to the campus, they will run another 5-K footrace there.

The First Annual Newtown Wingathlon, to benefit Dylan’s Wings of Change, will take place on the morning of Saturday, May 2. Travelers can expect delays and some road closures between the hours of 8 am and noon, in and around Fairfield Hills and roads south, and are asked to watch out for runners and bicyclists. Registration is still open for those who would like to run the event’s 5K.
