Newtown Pools 4, Carminuccio’s Pizza 2: Newtown Pools scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning when Samantha Black got a clutch two-out hit that drove in two runs. Sienna Cummings and Adelaide Meier both pitched a scoreless inning for Newtown Pools. Kendra Saunders led the offensive attack for Carminuccio’s Pizza with three hits. Kim Buttery was outstanding on the mound and Lindsay Dievert was a defensive star behind the plate. Heather Stroili and Sienna Cummings played strong in the field.

Carminuccio’s Pizza 11, Creative Mailing Service 3: Carminuccio’s Pizza was led by Cassidy Tran and Gabrielle Calbo, who each had four hits. Josie Hoover was catcher and scored three runs. The girls from Creative Mailing Services showed plenty of hustle. The hitting stars were Jaclyn Moccio who was five for five and Anna Johnston who was four for five on the day. Jaclyn also contributed solid defense. Victoria Weimenn and Beth Savinelli contributed with great pitching. Lisa Price was solid in the field and had an RBI.

Coalition Equipment Crushers 4, New England Bounce About 2: New England Bounce About played well behind the pitching of Rachel O’Grady and Casey Muckell. Samantha Gully had a great hit to get New England Bounce About on the score board. Julia Anderson made strong defensive contributions and hit well. Coalition Crushers were led by Grace Corcoran and Alexa Horkachuck during a second inning rally. Heads up plays in the infield by Emily Dirga and Julia Shuman helped lead the defense.

New England Bounce About 2, Nuzzo Electric 1: Rachel O’Grady had an impressive game pitching, hitting and fielding. Larkin Huffman made two outstanding defensive plays at third base and hit well. Natalie Shaker had a great hit and pitched well. For Nuzzo Electric, Cassidy Keller went two for four and played great behind the plate. Emma McGrath had three great at bats and got a hit. Natasha Saavedra played well at third and substitute player Sammy Gully (NE Bounce) went three for three.

Claim Services International 6, Nuzzo Electric 0: CSI had a great overall game. Hitting was led by Jenna Carvalho and Abby Pereira. There was strong pitching from Rylee Mulligan and Jillian Lasorsa and great defensive plays by Emily Bell and Leah Hushion. Alex Nuzzo and Cassidy Datin teamed up for a couple great defensive plays at second base. Zoe Beals pitched three great innings and ripped a triple. Sammy Strocchia also pitched well and was aggressive at first base. Cate Norton had great hit to the left infield but was tagged out with a throw to first.

 Coalition Equipment Crushers 4, WellBaskets.com 0: The Coalition Crushers were scoreless until the third inning when Emily Dirga led off with a base hit and scored three batters later on an RBI single by Sydney Flint. The Crushers rallied in the third with scores by Dirga, Sarah Cizmazia and Vanessa Tucker. Sarah Brittin opened the game on the mound and Kaysie Fisher pitched well in two late innings to keep the Crushers lead at four runs. Sarah Brittin and Laura LaFreniere played well behind the plate. Alexa Horkachuck had some great infield play.

For WellBaskets.com, pitchers were Tegan Doherty, Shannon Cheh, Abigail Clarke, and Amanda Berry, who made her pitching debut. They performed well in throwing strikes. There was strong catching by Lindsey Sherwood and Carly Kreshpan. Tegan Doherty had two hits, and Tess Mubarek had one. It was a low-scoring game with a lot of good defense.

Claim Services International 8, WellBaskets.com 2: CSI had an impressive hitting attack led by Sydney Marino, Katie Bassett, and Sara Matté. The team played strong defense all day and ended the game on a great relay from Anna Cartelli to Anna Harrison. For WellBaskets.com, defensive plays were made in the field by Tess Mubarek and Elizabeth Calabrese,.

Good teamwork was provided by Tegan Doherty on a nice defensive play to the first baseman, Carly Kreshpan. Shannon Cheh had two hits and Tegan had three. Abigail Clarke pitched as well as Shannon, Carly and Tegan.

U12

BlueLine Designs Purple Penguins 10, Dina 6: For BlueLine, Lauren Wilcox and Tonya Tucker led the Penguins from the pitching mound, while Kelly Merrick and Rebecca Pearson powered the offense. Katie Laaksonen and Alexis Tucker had strong defensive games. Dina played a great game. Madeline Meier provided strong pitching and hitting. “Tino” DiMartino also pitched two strong innings. Haley Ryan and Amanda Vitti both had hits. Sarah Spillane and Emma Cizmazia played solid defense in the field.

Dr Baum Orthodontics Bombers 14, Pomperaug Team 8: The Bombers came out swinging and downed the Pomperaug Team 14 to 8. Samantha Cody, Brianna Baranowski and Brittany Gonzalez powered the offense. Caitlyn Linden pitched very well for the Bombers and Grace Frost lead the defense behind the plate.

BlueLine Designs Purple Penguins 20, Brookfield 8: The Penguins played a strong game against their host Brookfield. Avery Tananbaum and Robin Rockwell were among the Penguins who crossed the plate. Lauren Wilcox and Alexis Tucker pitched well. The Penguins were led defensively by Kelly Merrick and Katie Laaksonen.

Dr Baum Orthodontics Bombers 10, BlueLine Designs Purple Penguins 9: Dr Baum’s Bombers held on to defeat BlueLine Designs Purple Penguins. For the Bombers Gillian Ostrofsky drove in the game-winning RBI, Caitlyn Linden and Joanna Vodola had good hits for the Bombers. Liz Townsend and Annie Hoffman pitched great games and Brianna Baranowski led the defense behind the plate. The Penguins were led defensively from behind the plate by Ashley Gong and Rose Pagett. Kelsey Nicholson and Sarah Mawdsley played great in the field. On offense Robin Rockwell and Victoria Clarke had good at bats.

U14

Family Health Care Sharks 17, Southbury 16: The Sharks led Southbury most of the game, but then in the sixth inning Southbury rallied back hard scoring nine runs. For Newtown, Alena Ruscoe pitched four good innings and had eight strikeouts. Justine Hawkins came to the mound for two innings and pitched well. Offensively, Lauren Henchcliffe socked a three-RBI triple, while Maddie Erhardt belted a grand slam to deep center field. For Southbury, Jessica Vlamis and Katie Threlfall each had a good day at the plate offensively.
