Joan M. Breheney

A Kind And

Generous Heart

Joan M. Breheney, 82, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Stamford, died recently, surrounded by her family. Mrs Breheney was born in New York City, June 24, 1927.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James J. Breheney, Jr, three children including Tricia Muzzio and her husband, Bill, of Sandy Hook; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by two loving sons.

Mrs Breheney was employed at Xerox Corporation headquarters in Stamford for more than 13 years before she retired.

She had a strong Catholic faith and attended Sunday mass religiously at The Epiphany Cathedral of Venice, Fla., where she was a member of The Council of Catholic Women and The Friends and Daughters of St Patrick.

Mrs Breheney was known for her generous heart. She always made the time to comfort someone in need.  One of her favorite things to do was to take her visiting family and friends to the beach to admire the spectacular sunsets. She also loved a good challenge and her family marveled at her ability to complete The Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle in pen. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will take place at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown, Wednesday, May 12, at 10:30 am. She will be laid to rest with her son, Brian, at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., during a private burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Newtown’s Relay For Life in Mrs Breheney’s memory, relayforlife.org/newtownct.
