Open Call To Artists For

Tarrywile Park & Mansion Plein Air Event

DANBURY — The Housatonic Valley Cultural Alliance (HVCA) and Tarrywile Park & Mansion are planning a Weekend at Tarrywile First Annual Plein Air Event, which will be a multi-day en plein air art exhibition and sale to benefit Tarrywile Park Authority.

A prospectus for artists interested in participating in the paint out is available at HVCulturalArts.org. Deadline for entries is May 14, and the artists who are selected for participation will be notified by phone or email by May 21. Up to 25 artists will be selected.

The paint out is open to all artists of Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman working in two dimensional painting and drawing media. Artists must be at least 18 years of age.

A paint out will then take place over five days on the park grounds, June 1-5. At 5 pm on Saturday, a jury will decide which works will be exhibited for sale on June 6.

The sale will then run on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm, at the mansion, 70 Southern Boulevard. The exhibit and sale will be open to the public. Special recognition will be given to first, second and third, as well as Best of Show announced at the exhibit.

Please note HVCA membership is also required. Membership fee is $25 for individual artists. Membership fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee inclusion in the event as this is a juried event. The membership fee is per artist, not per piece.

Sales made during the exhibition will be subject to an 80-20 split, with the artist receiving 80 percent and the other 20 percent to benefit Tarrywile Park. Sales will be collected by Tarrywile Park and checks will be mailed to the artists within one week of the event.
