Democrats Deserve A Choice; Brandon Moore Earned Mine
To The Editor:
What struck me most at Newtown’s Democratic debate wasn’t just the policy discussion. It was a fundamental difference in how the candidates view this race.
Michelle Embree Ku made it clear that if she does not win the party endorsement at caucus, she would drop out of the race. I found that surprising for someone serious about winning this seat.
If you care deeply about serving this community, why would you give up the opportunity to make your case directly to voters?
That moment clarified something important for me.
I don’t want a Democratic nominee who is willing to step aside when things get tough. I want someone who is ready to fight for this seat, because that’s exactly what it will take to defeat Mitch Bolinsky in November.
Brandon Moore didn’t take the bait when pressed during the debate. The question, notably, came from Michelle’s own campaign treasurer. It felt like insider politics, not something most Newtown voters are focused on.
A primary election is a good thing. Both Democrats and Republicans running for governor are competing in primaries, just like we see at the presidential level every cycle. It’s how we evaluate candidates and ultimately choose the strongest nominee. More than that, it’s a sign of a healthy party that isn’t afraid of competition or debate.
We need a nominee who is ready to fight for this seat because it has been out of reach for Democrats for too long.
If Democrats are serious about winning this seat, Brandon Moore is the candidate who will get us there.
