U14 Division

Newtown Family Health Care Center vs Bethel Shepard’s Inc: For the Family Health Care Center Sharks, Alena Ruscoe, Anna Guarano, and Hannah Godbout all pitched well. Offensively, Sarah Clements, Juliana Sansonetti, and Erin Bernardi collected hits. Lily Holmes, Kate Butera, and Lauren Henchcliffe all made good plays in the field. For Shepards Inc, Allie Guerriero and Chelsey Marv pitched well. Jackie Keisling collected a pair of hits, driving in a couple of runs for Shepard’s. Alex Hunt played great defense and also collected a key single.

 

U12 Division

Blueline Designs 9, Dr Baum’s Orthodontics 6: In a well-fought game, the Blueline Designs Purple Penguins beat Dr Baum’s Orthodontics Bombers 9 to 6. Lauren Wilcox and Tonya Tucker pitched well for the Penguins. Katie Laaksonen and Kelly Merrick powered the offense. Alexis Tucker and Sarah Mawdsley had good defensive games. For Dr Baum’s, Katie Reilly and Caitlyn Linden pitched very well, while Liz Townsend, Michaela Jackman, Brianna Baranowski, and Gillian Ostrofsky powered the offense. Annie Hoffman and Samatha Cody held together the defense.

Blueline Designs 18, Dr Baum’s Orthodontics 10: Blueline Designs Purple Penguins upended Dr Baum’s Orthodontics 18 to 10. Avery Tanenbaum and Robin Rocwell had good offensive games for the Penguins. Kelsey Nicholson and Tonya Tucker pitched well, while Ashley Gong and Rose Pagett were strong on defense. For Dr Baum’s Orthodontics, Alli Morrill, Brianna Baranowski, Grace Frost, and Brittney Gonzalez powered the offense. Liz Townsend pitched very strong and the defense was led by Joanna Vodola, Gillian Ostrofsky, and Samatha Cody.

Dr Baum’s Orthodontics 14, Dina 9: Courtney Demeglio struck out all three batters in her first appearance on the mound this year. Amanda Vitti and Emma Cizmazia played great defense as Dina lost to Dr Baum Orthodontics 14-9. Claire Hull did a great job behind the plate too. For Dr Baum Orthodontics, Liz Townsend, Brittany Gonzalez, Lauren Villamana, and Michaela Jackman powered the offense. Annie Hoffman and Brianna Baranowski pitched very well. Grace Frost was the defensive star, catching five of the six innings and making a great catch of a pop-up behind the plate.

 Dina 11, Pomperaug 8: Dina beat Pomperaug 11-8 in a hard-fought battle. Skylar Kneski and Sarah Spillane led Dina with two hits a piece ,while Shannon Lynch and Amanda Vitti pitched brilliantly. Pomperaug kept the game close with a strong infield.

 

U10 Division

Coalition Equipment 7, Nuzzo Electric 5: The Coalition Equipment Crushers had a strong showing behind Kaysie Fisher and Sarah Cizmazia on the pitching mound. Grace Corcoran and Emily Dirga led off the first with a single each and both scored on a triple by Isabella Luciano. Vanessa Tucker, Alexa Horkachuck, and Julia Shuman made clutch plays in the infield to keep their team in the lead for the win.  With Nuzzo Electric down 7 to 2 in the last inning, they came close to its biggest comeback of the year with three runs, but lost 7 to 5. During the last inning Emma McGrath and Alexis Mason landed base hits. Zoe Beals went 3 for 3 ripping two doubles and a single. Cassidy Keller played very well behind the plate.

Claim Services International 7, Coalition Equipment 1: Claims Service International (CSI) had a strong game and beat Coalition Equipment 7-1. Jillian Lasorsa pitched a couple of scoreless innings and smashed a triple to lead the attack. The defense was led by Abby Pereira, who made some smart plays in the outfield, and Jenna Carvalho, who made two great catches during the game. Katie Bassett and Anna Harrison also contributed with some timely hits. The Coalition Equipment Crushers played a tough game against a good team. Scoreless through three innings and down by 5 runs, Sarah Cizmazia got things started in the fourth with a single and scored on a double by Isabella Luciano. Kaysie Fisher opened the game on the mound with Sarah Brittin pitching in later innings. Alexa Horkachuck played tough behind the plate. Vanessa Tucker and Julia Shuman each made good plays on defense.

Claim Services International 5, New England Bounce About 5: Claims Service International and New England Bounce About played to a hard-fought 5-5 tie. CSI was led in the field by Emily Bell and Jillian Lasorsa, who both made some nice defensive plays. The hitting attack was led by Rylee Mulligan, who knocked in a few runs with a triple, and Jenna Carvalho, who smashed a triple. Sara Matte contributed with a big hit late in the game. New England Bounce About held its own with outstanding pitching by Casey Muckell and Grace Erney. Down by 1 going into the fourth inning, strong offense was displayed with solid hitting by Rachel O’Grady, Allie Eurell, and Natalie Shaker. A double play executed by Rachel O’Grady and Casey Muckell held the game to a tie.

WellBaskets.com 5, New England Bounce About 3: WellBaskets.com scored all of their runs in the third inning and were able to hold off New England Bounce About for a 5-3 win. Strong offense from Amanda Berry, Abigail Clark, and Carly Kreshpan; all three had a single to begin the third inning attack. NEBA came up short in another exciting game. NEBA welcomed a new first-year player, Nicole Lillis, who had her first career hit! Jacklin Gouveia, Natalie Shaker, Rachel Daum, and Sam Strocchia also contributed with hits. Julia Anderson made two outstanding plays on defense that kept NEBA in the game.

WellBaskets.com 11, Nuzzo Electric 9: Nuzzo Electric lost the slugfest Saturday afternoon by a score of 11 to 9. Alex Watson assisted on a great out at first while going 2 for 3, and Natasha Saavedra pitched in with he first base hit of the year. Cate Norton moved runners over with a great base hit and Zoe Beals went 2 for 3 with a single and a triple. Wellbaskets.com scored 10 of their runs in the first two innings with strong offense from all of the girls and were able to hold on for the win.

Student Division

Taunton press vs Wubbaworld.Com: Wubbaworld.Com Hornets stinging attack was led by the bats of Colleen Phaneuf, Ryssa Swanson, and Caroline Malin. Showing hot gloves on defense were Angela Carriero, Brigitte Marino, and Grace Waller. Taunton press featured strong hitting by Madeline Patrick, Ashley Silvaggi, Jagger Helfand, and Emily Hammond. When the purple penguins took to the field, practice paid off for Alea Willis, Jenna Reilly, Meghan Chipman and Eliza Roth...their ability to stop line drives and pop flies was awesome!

 Dr Beck’s: On Dr Beck’s sponsored team, Rylee Harrell and Casey Sullivan hit well. Karsen Pirone and Shannon Jackman were on the pitchers mound. Shauna Tucker played well at first base.

Newtown Mobil: Newtown Mobil had a nice game on Saturday. Anna Burns along with Katherine Maki clobbered the ball. Geneva Cunningham pitched great. Brooke Argraves played a superb defensive game.
