To The Editor:

Who knows our town better than Michelle Embree Ku! The evidence is clear that she has fought for issues important to all Newtowners since she and her family moved here 16 years ago. My short list for supporting Ms. Embree Ku:

Government Experience: Local, 8 years — Board of Education (chair 4 yrs), two years Board of Selectmen; 2 years Legislative Council; State, Governor’s Regional Advisory Team member for safe return of our students to school during COVID, Chaired State Gov’t Relations for CT Boards of Education Association; Charter Revision Commission — 1 year review of town government structure, e.g., efficiency, modernization, community concerns, and accountability.

Core Values: Leadership — It means listening first and working with others across differences to get things done for our community; Schools — Safe buildings, healthy air and classrooms, smart investments in learning, and support for education; Healthcare — Pushing for better access, better planning, and care that supports women, seniors, and everyday folks; Environment — Preserving Newtown’s unique open spaces. Protecting the aquifer we all rely on. Smart plans for resilient infrastructure. An ally on many conservation issues, e.g., 6 Commerce Road; and Housing — Per Michelle’s Letter to Editor on 5/8/26, “8-30(g) doesn’t work for towns like ours. When you account honestly for the housing we already have, Newtown has done its part … working on solutions that make sense in a thoughtful, balanced, and grounded approach is what is needed now.”

Endorsements: Michelle received numerous positive Letters to the Editor and has formal endorsements from Hartford including State Representative Anne Hughes and State Attorney General William Tong.

Because of her perseverance, steadiness, and remarkable record of public service, Michelle has the best chance to win the 106th District state representative seat. Go to kuisforyou.com to learn more.
