Writes In Support Of Embree Ku
To The Editor:
I am writing today to enthusiastically endorse Michelle Ku for CT State Representative for Newtown.
Michelle’s resume of service is already a testament to her commitment to our town. From her work on the Legislative Council, and Board of Selectmen, to her time as Chair of the Board of Education, she has consistently proven that she understands the workings of our local government. Through her work on various boards and committees, (including her participation on the Task Force on Food Allergies in Schools and chairing CABE"s Government Relations Committee) Michelle has already established a strong voice for Newtown in Hartford, ensuring our local needs are heard at the state level. And it isn’t just her experience that sets her apart—it’s her approach.
As a professional scientist, Michelle brings a level of analytical rigor that is often missing in public discourse. She doesn't just look at the surface of an issue; she researches deeply and evaluates problems from multiple angles before making a decision. In an era of partisan noise, her grounded decision-making is a welcome standard for local leadership.
Beyond her intellect, Michelle is deeply ethical and genuinely invested in the welfare of all our residents. She is a staunch advocate for our schools and is a tireless champion for data-driven policies that prioritize a sustainable and equitable future for Newtown.
I worked with Michelle over the six years I represented District One on the Legislative Council, and when we both were involved in charter revision and ordinance work for the town. There is no one I would rather have representing Newtown in Hartford. We need leaders who are smart, prepared, and focused on the long-term health of our community. Michelle Ku is that leader. I urge my neighbors to join me in supporting her.
