DANBURY â The Luis Palau Festival, a youth and family-friendly celebration of âgreat music and good newsâ featuring major gospel and Christian recording artists, is coming to Danbury this weekend. The music festival, which is free and open to the public, will be presented by the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association with the support of hundreds of volunteers, donors, and churches. Some of the most recognized names in contemporary Christian music will perform, including Jaci Velasquez, Kirk Franklin, DC Talk, Nicole C. Mullen, Audio Adrenaline, 4Him, Rebecca St James, Avalon, and FFH.
The event will be hosted by world evangelist and author Dr Luis Palau. Spotlighted in The Wall Street Journal as âthe Billy Graham of everywhere,â Mr Palau has spoken in 70 countries to over 14 million people. His radio and television broadcasts have been heard in over 100 nations by hundreds of millions.
Mr Palauâs âfestival evangelismâ approach to sharing the Gospel focuses on youth and families with an emphasis on music. In August, 2000, the Portland Festival drew an estimated 140,000 over two days as Waterfront Park in Portland, Ore.; the event was televised nationally on PAX TV on April 7.
Performances will be presented Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, at the OâNeill Center, on the westside of campus of Western CT State University. There will be performances Friday, June 1, beginning at 7 pm, by Nicole C. Mullen and Wayne Watson. Saturday morning will open at 11 with a family show, Kidâs Celebration: Dean-O and The Dynamos. At 7 pm, the festival will resume with performances by Three Crosses and Jeff Deyo.
