Ben’s Bells Project will present Celebration of Kindness — a free family event that will take place at Dickinson Park — on Sunday, June 7, from noon until 4 pm.

The mission of Ben’s Bells is to “inspire, educate, and motivate people to realize the impact of intentional kindness, and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby strengthening ourselves, our relationships, and our communities.”

In addition to providing a fun and uplifting event for the community, this event will be the single largest fundraiser for the Newtown studio this year, generating much needed support for its kindness education programs. Last year, more than 150,000 people participated in Ben’s Bells kindness education programming. Volunteers are extremely encouraged by the community’s enthusiasm for and support of the project.

The celebration will feature live music by Billy Genuario; plenty of food, including food trucks, ice cream from Weenie Lynne and Ferris Acres Creamery, Romy’s BBQ, and Fruple; kindness-themed activities, a bounce house, and more.

In addition, the celebration will feature the debut of a brand-new, locally produced Be Kind Connecticut ornament. The limited-edition item will only be available to purchase for a short time, and the celebration will be the first opportunity to find it.

Organizers are expecting up to 500 people, with interest being shown from local residents as well as many from New Haven and Litchfield Counties and beyond.

Additional nonprofit organizations will also be participating in the celebration.

The Celebration of Kindness will be at the park’s band shell and pavilion. Those attending are encouraged to bring picnics, and should also bring chairs or blankets for seating.

Dickinson Park is at 50 Elm Drive. For additional information send e-mail to newtown@bensbells.org. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are available; send e-mail for details.

A Celebration of Kindness was celebrated in Tucson, Ariz., where the Ben’s Bells Project is headquartered, on April 18. A similar event was also presented in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 24.
