To the Editor:

Spay and Neuter of Newtown was started in 1983, to assist people with the spay and neutering of their pets, feral cats, and to educate the community on the care of pets.

The association is run solely by volunteers and as the original crew has diminished with age we are constantly looking for new volunteers. This year alone we have been able to assist in the spay and neutering of over 75 pets.

We exist solely on grants and contributions. Spay and Neuter partnered with the Hubbard Foundation last summer when they offered low cost exams and shots for seniors by covering the $60 fee the seniors would have had to spend. We have also donated books to Newtown Library on animal care.

Often times families and Seniors alike are caught in a dilemma when money is tight, in caring properly for their pets. We have also assisted these individuals.

At the present time we are fund raising for “Bebe,” a little dog in need of surgery. We are a tax free association Permit E-8604. We would appreciate any assistance with our current fund raising efforts.

Our PO Box is 352, Newtown, CT 06470 — and we can be reached at 860-426-2094.

We thank you for your assistance and guidance in this matter.

Dolores Miller, President

Diane Coviello, Secretary
