Graduation Ceremonies for Class of 2000 at Newtown High School, 5 pm, NHS’ Bruce Jenner Stadium, ceremonies held outdoors unless inclement weather, will move indoors and only guests with tickets will be granted admission (space limitations) if rain.

Lobster Fest, 5-9 pm, Sandy Hook Firehouse, Riverside Road, tickets $15 advance, $17 at door, lobster or steak dinner ($4 hamburger/hot dog dinners for kids available), DJ music, etc, fundraiser for the volunteer fire company.

Saturday, June 10

Annual Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic, 1-3 pm, Edmond Town Hall gymnasium, 45 Main Street, $10 per animal (*cash only; pet owners on public assistance bring State Public Assistance ID card for one free vaccination), vaccinations will be administered by Dr Brian Silverlieb and Dr Neal Warner, no residency requirements.

Annual Lakeside Gallery Show and Sale, 2-4 pm, 49 Taunton Lake Road, free admission, show and sale of watercolors by Pat Barkman, all are welcome, event continues June 11; 426-8949.

Ballet in the Meadow, 5 pm, Marsha Ismailoff Mark School of Ballet, 57 Mt Pleasant Road, free annual outdoor performance by students of school, bring blankets or chairs for seating, picnics welcome, performance repeated on Sunday; 426-0698.

Opening reception for exhibition of artwork by Lois Zimmermann, 2-4 pm, C.H. Booth Library lower meeting room, 25 Main Street, free, special presentation of works by the late Mrs Zimmerman in pastel, oil, watercolor, and acrylic, presenting a variety of images, created and arranged by Mrs Zimmermann’s daughters (Roberta Jones and Andrea Zimmermann of Newtown), exhibition will remain on view through June 20; 426-4533.
