Woman Charged With Theft Of Ring
Police charged a Brookfield woman with second-degree larceny June 1, alleging that she stole a diamond ring worth approximately $6,000 in a local cosmetology school.
Police said they charged Zahira B. Butt, 29, in the case. After processing, police released her on a $1,000 bond for a June 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Police said they responded to a complaint from Ricciâs Academy of Cosmetology at 99 South Main Street about 2 pm June 1.
The woman who owns the ring, who is a cosmetology student at the academy, had taken it off, after which it was allegedly stolen by Butt, who also is a cosmetology student, police said.
Three police officers questioned cosmetology students in the academy and eventually charged Butt after a ring matching the description of the stolen ring was found in Buttâs auto, police said.
