Gate House Concerts Will Open

With An International Folk Singer

SOUTHBURY — The Gate House Cafe has completed the schedule for its 2006 Gate House Café Concert Series.

Concerts are free and open to the public and will begin on Tuesday, June 13. Performances run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Performances are outside The Gate House Café, on Route 172 in front of Southbury Training School – three miles north of Exit 14 off I-84. In the event of rain concerts will be performed under Bobowick Pavilion; directions will be posted from the café.

International folk singer-songwriter Lui Collins will open the season on June 13.

The season will continue on June 20 with Eight To The Bar, the popular swing band; June 27, jazz flutist Sherry Winston will be joined by R&B singer Timmy Maia; July 11, Mad Agnes, an “intelligent, original trip [with] powerful harmonies”; July 18, Connecticut Country Companions; July 25, The Walters, performing “the blues side of country, jazz and folk music”; August 1, Sister Funk, with fresh sounds and styles ranging from pop, rock and blues to funk and Latin; and on August 8, The Emotions, a doo wop group out of New York, will conclude the 2006 season of concerts.

Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The café is open and selling refreshments before and during concerts.
