*The producers of THE ZOOMA TOUR, which was to be at The Meadows in Hartford – featuring Trey Anastasio, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Jurassic 5, Donavon Frankenreiter and The Black Keys – announced this week the cancellation of the entire tour.

A press release from the tour read in part “The Zooma Tour was conceived to provide fans with an exceptional musical and entertainment experience. Due unforeseen circumstances, it has become clear that it would not be possible to provide that experience at the level initially envisioned.  Rather than go forward with a tour that falls short of what was conceived, everyone involved has mutually agreed that it is best to cancel the tour altogether.”

Refunds for all tickets already purchased have been promised. If tickets were purchased with a credit card, the refunds should show up automatically on your records. Cash purchases will have to be done at the outlet where you purchased your ticket.

*As mentioned last week, tickets for COLDPLAY’s August 4 concert at The Meadows will be going on sale this weekend. There are $70.50 tickets available for a general admission mosh pit, and $50.50 and $70.50 tickets for reserved seating, and $31 tickets for the lawn.

*Also going on sale Saturday morning at 10 will be tickets for a July 20 LOGGINS & MESSINA REUNION TOUR stop at the Oakdale in Wallingford, with prices set at $35, $55 and $75.

Tickets for both of these shows will be sold at the Oakdale’s box office, online at TicketMaster.com or at any TicketMaster vendor.

*The SUM 41 show at Six Flags New England last weekend turned into a headlining opportunity for THE JT XPERIENCE when Sum 41 lead singer Deryck got sick and the band had to cancel.

But the May 28 festival – The KC 101 Ticket To Ride Concert – went on with sets by Bowling For Soup, The Click Five and the aforementioned JTX, and among the crowd were at least three young fans from Newtown. After the show JTX frontman JT stuck around for more than 90 minutes, signing autographs and standing with fans for photos. Among those who met the singer were Judd Baggett and Dylan Kelleher (in the photo with JT on the left) and Scudder Baggett (in the other photo with JT).

*ALTERNATE ROUTE will get next weekend started with a pair of shows at The Acoustic Café in Bridgeport. The band will be playing an all-ages show on Thursday, June 9, and then a 21-and-over show on Friday night.

AZTEC TWO STEP, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, will headline on Saturday.

ROAMER will spice things up for MIKE MORELLO on Thursday, June 16, when Morello celebrates a CD release party. The Connecticut born singer-songwriter blends jazz and pop with roots in many influences.

Two pianists, one piano – a familiar theme at the café – will be presented once again on Friday, June 17, when CHRIS COOGAN & MARK SCOTT play an early set. PENCILGRASS has the second show of the evening, starting around 10.

Additional shows this month include PENCILGRASS on June 17; MELISSA MULLIGAN BAND headlining on June 18, with ELLEN CORSO and CASEY CHAFE opening; SCARECROW on June 24; SWIVELCHAIR on June 25; and DJEHLI on June 29.

*Ticket-holders to the August 21 JOURNEY concert at Mohegan Sun Arena will not only be treated to a three-hour show that will encompass the band’s entire career – from pre-Steve Perry days to the band’s latest endeavors – they will also receive a copy of Journey’s latest CD, Generations, at the door.

Tickets for that show are going on sale Friday morning (June 3), at $32 and $42, at the arena’s box office and all TicketMaster vendors and outlets.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
