Thank You For

‘Jamboree 2005’

To the Editor:

On May 21, Armed Forces Day, the 2005 Jamboree — a musical celebration was held on stage at Edmond Town Hall featuring an evening of bluegrass by Roger Sprung and the Shoregrass bands. Several gifts and gift certificates were donated by local businesses for this event. The support of the Drug Center Pharmacy, The Ice Cream Shop, The Newtown Bee, Newtown Exxon Service Center, Newtown Hardware, Newtown Pizza Palace, Newtown Savings Bank, and the Sandy Hook Diner were all generous donors.

Also many thanks to Newtown’s own Rocking Rooster Square Dance Club who provided refreshments and lots of support. Clint McClean who was our caller to live music provided by Roger Sprung’s ensemble.

The cooperation of the Town Hall management staff were par excellence in terms of assisting with live music needs and taping by Charter Communications. To Marci, Tom, Tim, and Ed a huge thank you for your graciousness in answering many questions and your valuable assistance.

A gentleman from Waterbury who was in attendance had performed on this stage in 1936. His memories of the theater and his own experience was brought back as he expressed his appreciation for the live performances on May 21. Many thanks to all who attended and supported this project.

Sincerely,

Marty Maciag
