Many Support

Team In The Pink

To the Editor:

Hello everyone!

Just a short note to thank everyone who supported our many fundraisers which raised funds for the Relay For Life that is being held this weekend at Fairfield Hills on June 4–5 at Fairfield Hills-NYA in Newtown. Our team, Team In The Pink, had Mondays in May at Toro restaurant, Flamingo fundraisers, and Zumba fundraisers. We had a table at the Power of Purple art show at the middle school and a table at the Pootatuck Duck Race also. We are only a few dollars short of our team goal of $2,000, which I am confident that we will raise the night of Relay. I just wanted to personally thank everyone that was involved with helping us raise funds for Relay. Thank you to Addie Sandler, Marliese Heideman-Dunne, Janet Flanagan, Sue Shaw, Terri Reisert, Lynda Russo, Christine Hermes, Cathie Gerardi, Alisa Farley, and Doreen Helstern for “flocking” people, which included a $20 donation and telling us where to place flamingos. It was a huge hit! And our family enjoyed special time together going to pick the birds up and place them sneakily in the dark on someone’s front lawn along with a sign “You’ve Been Flocked.”

I would also like to thank Tammy DeMarche, owner of Z Place for Fitness on South Main Street in Newtown for graciously hosting a Zumba fundraiser which earned our team even more money. I would also like to thank “Benny” from Toro restaurant, for hosting Mondays in May, which kicked 20 percent of people’s bills, when presented with a coupon found in The Bee back to Relay For Life every Monday in May.

Last but not least, I’d like to thank my family for their support and our Team In The Pink — you know who you are! — for all their energy and help in making this team goal a reality. Due to your hard work, someday I am confident that our children will live in a cancer-free world. Let’s get ready to Relay!!
