Open House & Family Day

At Sticks & Stones Farm

The public is invited to join the crew of Sticks and Stones Farm, 201 Huntingtown Road in Newtown, for an Open House & Family Day on Saturday, June 4. The event, which will offer a look at the farm, garden, and camp opportunities, will run from 10 am until 3 pm; rain date will be Sunday, June 5.

There will be activities for children and adults including tours of the farm, healthy food demos and tastings, and a mini yoga class. Visitors will be welcome to walk the labyrinth and nature trails. Live music will be performed.

“The moss on the mountain is green and lush, the garden is planted and the labyrinth, entering its second year, looks better than ever,” said Annie Stiefel, the farm’s resident chef and wellness health coach. “There are lots of new things planned for the summer … so stop in for a visit.”

The open house will also have plenty of information about the farm’s upcoming offerings, including an array of children’s programs run by Justin Pegnataro, executive director of Two Coyotes Wilderness School.

Additional special events this month alone will include “A Perfect Day” on Saturday, June 11, which will be a 6½-hour special event focused on relaxing and rejuvenating; the annual HRH (Honor, Remember, Heal) Walk on Saturday, June 18, when family members and friends who have lost a loved one to an addiction join for continued healing, this year to feature a talk by Joanne Montgomery on “Healing Your Grief”; a community drum circle, also on June 18; Natural Awakenings Connection Night, from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 22, when local holistic health practitioners will be on hand to share information while attendees also enjoy food samples and a candle-lit labyrinth walk; a stone wall working with Master Stone Mason Tim Currier on Saturday, June 25; a kombucha (fermented tea that is imbibed for medicinal purposes) making workshop on Saturday, June 25; a return of “Wildman” Steve Brill for an ecology tour on Sunday, June 26; a “Got Kale?” cooking class on Wednesday, June 29; and a healthy potluck community supper on Thursday, June 30.

Reservations are requested for Saturday’s open house, and good walking shoes are strongly encouraged.

Contact Ms Stiefel at 203-270-8820 for reservations or additional information, which is also available at SticksAndStonesFarm.com.
