Shopping Center Incident

Police said they received a complaint about 10 pm June 1 that a small group of youths had gathered in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, and that one of the youths was handling a baseball bat, so police went to investigate.

Police said they found the baseball bat in the back seat of an auto driven by James Riddle, 18, of 21 Lyrical Lane, so they charged Riddle with possession of a weapon in motor vehicle.

Police said their investigation determined that Marcos Gomez, 20, of Danbury had been handling the baseball bat, so they charged him with breach of peace. Police released both youths on bail for June 16 appearances in Danbury Superior Court.
