The Second Annual Lighthouse Festival on Saturday, June 14, will resurrect Sandy Hook Arcade Center (SHAC) for one day. Along with all the other activities and events at the festival, several of the most popular games from the former SHAC will be available throughout the day.

The 2nd Annual Lighthouse Festival will take place on Saturday, June 14, rain or shine from 10 am to 4 pm. It will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street. The free festival features family-friendly activities involving art, music, storytelling, juggling and the return of some familiar comfort dogs.

SHAC opened in February 2013. Designed to exist for three months of fun and stress relief in a Sand Hill Plaza storefront, it served the area for seven months thanks to generous contributions from local businesses and individuals. SHAC owners are reportedly excited for this opportunity to “re-open,” if only for one day.

The Lighthouse Festival will bring back many of the activities and presentations that thrilled children and families last year, including the custom 20-foot tall interactive lighthouse, representatives from the US Coast Guard, a building activity from the Eli Whitney Museum, the Maritime Museum Touch Tank, Goldfish crackers from Pepperidge Farm, and more.

In addition, many new activities including readings from the author of Lighthouse Santa and knot-tying lessons will be new this year.

The event is presented by Ben’s Lighthouse. Visit BensLighthouse.org for a schedule of the day’s events and additional information about Ben’s Lighthouse.
