Frances Kleitz

Frances J. McCarthy Kleitz, 90, of Trumbull, died peacefully May 31, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Kleitz. Born in Bridgeport on April 8, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen McGuire McCarthy.

Her sister, Helene Tallman of Newtown; loving daughter, Cathryn Santo of Trumbull; three cherished grandchildren, Alexis Gulas and husband Joseph, Alicia Smith and companion Joseph Mele, and Elizabeth Perry and husband Ross; her adored great-grandson; as well as lifelong friends and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins survive her.

In addition to her husband, Andrew, her son, Peter Kleitz; her son-in-law, James Santo; and her brother, Edward "Ted" McCarthy, predeceased her.

Mrs Kleitz was the owner of Daybreak Florist, where she showcased her talent for floral arrangements for many years. She was proud to have been one of the founding members of the Trumbull Historical Society and was also recognized as being the first woman trustee in the United States for Catholic Churches. She also served as a member of the St Catherine of Siena Ladies Guild. Mrs Kleitz was a worldwide traveler, an avid antique collector, and had a gift for telling stories. Her loved ones say she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Friends may greet the family Monday, June 4, from 4 to 8 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 5, at 10 am, in St Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Road, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
