Newtown Woman's Club Memorial Thank You
To The Editor:
The ladies of the Newtown Woman's Club, Inc., GFWC, thank the Town of Newtown for the continuing opportunity to place American flags, honoring our veterans, at the "Liberty and Peace Monument on Main Street in celebration of Memorial Day.
We thank the Borough for its annual commitment to mowing the area for us. We thank The Bee for its publicity and both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Newtown VFW for allowing us the privilege.
In addition, a special thanks to the Vietnam War veteran who stopped by to say hello, bringing water and Hershey's Kisses. An unexpected treat. We all honor your service!
I thank my fellow Woman's Club members for always being there for this event. This year: Millie Anderson, Chris Dran, Jan Happel, Colleen Honan, Joan Lavery, Sylvia Poulin, Judy Rosentel, and Betty Warner did the honors. These serial volunteers took time away from Meals on Wheels, The Friends of the Library, church commitments, veteran's duties, food banks, and numerous other commitments to do this one thing that they love, to show their gratitude to those who gave everything they were asked and more for America.
