DWI Charge

Police report they saw motorist Heather O’Neill, 19, of Bethel drive through a red traffic signal at the intersection of Route 302 and Route 25 about 2 am June 4.

Police said they stopped O’Neill and gave her field sobriety tests, which she failed. Police charged her with driving intoxicated and failing to obey a traffic control signal.

After processing, police released her for a June 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Truck Into Pole

Motorist Manuel J. Conde, 43, of Danbury, was driving a 1987 Toyota pickup truck southbound on Eden Hill Road about 8:45 am May 29 when the truck’s power steering failed, causing the truck to leave the right side of the road and strike a tree, according to police.

Police said Conde refused medical attention at the scene. Police issued Conde a written warning for making an improper turn.

Car Into Rails

State police said motorist Jennifer Holloway, 21, of New Haven, who was entering westbound Interstate-84 via the Exit 11 on-ramp about 2 am June 1 while driving a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, veered to avoid striking a tractor-trailer truck, lost control of the Chevrolet, and struck the median guardrail.

Holloway was not injured. State police said they warned her for improper entry to the highway.

Truck Vs Car

State police report tractor-trailer trucker Francis B. Davis, Jr, 57, of Medway, Mass., was driving a 1998 Mack truck eastbound on Interstate-84 in heavy stop-and-go traffic about 4:20 pm June 2 when a 1991 Honda Accord driven by Eileen M. Ricci, 53, of Bethel made an unsafe lane change from the Exit 11 on-ramp in front the truck, resulting in a collision. There were no injuries.

State police said they issued Ricci an infraction ticket.

Deer on Interstate

State police said motorist Anthony L. Rogers, 22, of Naugatuck was driving a 1990 Toyota sedan eastbound in the left lane of Interstate-84 between Exits 9 and 10 about 8:40 pm June 4 as motorist Elizabeth Bogdanoff, no age given, of 32 Obtuse Road was driving alongside Rogers in the right lane in a 1999 Subaru station wagon.

A deer ran toward the Subaru from the right road shoulder. Bogdanoff braked and swerved to the left, striking the Toyota, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Bogdanoff for failure to drive in the established lane.

Sandy Hook Incident

Police report Donald Trudeau, 34, of 88 Riverside Road turned himself in at the police department June 5 after learning there was a warrant for his arrest in connection with a May 10 incident at a home on Riverside Road. Police charged Trudeau with breach of the peace and public indecency.

Police said that after being asked to leave the property by the property owner, Trudeau refused and attempted to enter the house. Police released Trudeau for a June 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Cocaine Charge

Police said they received a complaint concerning a motor vehicle parked along Zoar Road on the evening of June 2. Police said they found a small amount of cocaine in the vehicle and charged the driver, David E. Holmgren, 39, of 149 Lakeview Terrace, with possession of cocaine.

Police released Holmgren on a $250 bond for a June 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.

Drug Charges

Police charged two Newtown High School students with drug counts June 2 in connection with an incident at the high school.

Police said Jonathan A. Talmadge, 16, of 125 Alpine Drive was seen buying four Ritalin tablets from an unidentified 15-year-old male student. School officials turned over the youths to police.

Police charged Talmadge with possession of a controlled substance and charged the juvenile with sale of a controlled substance. Police did not identify the juvenile because he is under 16.

The youths are scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.

Two Warrants

Police report they served two arrest warrants in Danbury June 6 against Cesar Hondares, 19, of 37 Sugar Street, Newtown, in connection with past incidents in Newtown.

One warrant lists charges of first-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree failure to appear in court concerning a past incident at Newtown High School.

The second warrant lists two counts of first-degree criminal trespassing in connection with incidents at the high school.

Police said they held Hondares on bond for an appearance June 7 in Danbury Superior Court.

Trespassing

Police said they served an arrest warrant against John Paul Lamb, 20, of 178 Brushy Hill Road June 6 listing charges of failure to respond to an infraction and simple trespassing. The trespassing charge stems from an August 1999 incident, police said. Lamb was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court June 14, police said.

Bad Check

Police report Laura Gardecki, 34, of Brookfield turned herself into police June 6 after learning there was a warrant for her arrest on a charge of issuing a bad check in connection with a past incident. Police released Gardecki on a promise to appear June 20 in Danbury Superior Court.

VW Into Pole

Police said motorist Larry J. Isler, 18, of 32 Bonnie Brae Drive, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle southbound on Queen Street about 1:30 am June 2, lost control of the car and struck a utility pole.

Isler was not injured, police said. Police said they issued him an infraction ticket.

Church Hill Road

Motorist Bryan J. Hamilton, 17, of 13 Currituck Road, who was driving a 1991 Honda Accord westbound on Church Hill Road about 7:30 am June 2, was traveling behind westbound motorist Miles G. Cohen, 46, of 17 Cobblestone Lane, who was driving a 1998 Porsche Carrera, police said.

The Porsche stopped to allow a vehicle exiting the Blue Colony Diner parking lot to enter the westbound lanes, police said. The Honda then struck the Porsche from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Hamilton a written warning.

 

DWI Warrant

Police said Paulo Cruz, 20, of Naugatuck, turned himself in at the police station June 7 after learning there was a warrant for his arrest on a charge of driving while intoxicated in connection with a two-car accident which occurred April 9 on Route 302.

Police released Cruz on a promise to appear June 22 in Danbury Superior Court.

MV Charges

Police charged Efrain Hernandez, 30, of Danbury June 7 with failure to obey a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, and failure to return a driver’s license. Police released Hernandez on bond for a June 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
