Pianist-Composer Live At Aldrich

RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art will welcome a performance by The Jason Moran Trio on Friday, June 23. A pianist and composer, Mr Moran was one of the March 2000 Jazziz cover boys, along with Greg Osby and Stefon Harris.

In Ridgefield, Mr Moran will be performing with Taurus Mateen on bass and Nasheet Waits on drums. The trio will bring together the New Orleans groove sound with hints of soul, progressive and straight-laced jazz arrangements of classic Blue Note standards.

The trio will be performing selections from Soundtrack To Human Motion, including “Jamo Meets Samo” and “Gangsterism on Canvas,” both compositions inspired by the visual artist Jean Michel Basquiat. Mr Moran will also grace the audience with a sneak preview of his upcoming album Facing Left, which will be released this month on Blue Note Records.

Tickets, which include complimentary wine, are $20 each and reservations are required. The museum is at 258 Main Street/Route 35 in Ridgefield. Call 203/438-4519 for details or reservations.
