At Barnum Museum

BRIDGEPORT — The Barnum Museum in downtown Bridgeport offers special discount rates for senior groups on a daily basis.

Admission rates for self-tour groups with a minimum of 20 people are $3 per person. For guided tours of up to 45 people led by a trained docent, a $50 program fee will be added.

The Barnum Museum is showman P.T. Barnum’s final gift to the city of Bridgeport. Opened in 1893, the Romanesque-style red sandstone building is wheelchair accessible.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum houses three floors of artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia depicting the life and times of Barnum, one-time mayor of Bridgeport, and the many unique persons who performed in his American Museum and his circus.

The current special exhibition, “P.T. Barnum Presents the Divine Jenny Lind,” will be on view through August 13. The exhibit celebrates the 150th anniversary of the “Swedish Nightingale’s” highly successful 1850 American concert tour promoted by Barnum.
