Probation Violation

William Alamo, 32, of Derby, turned himself in to Newtown Police Department on June 3 following a violation of probation.

Alamo was released on a written promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 15.

Two Charges Follow Collision

While traveling west on Mile Hill Road on June 1, at 12:16 pm, a 2015 Mini Cooper operated by Stephen F. Marlin, 50, of Sandy Hook, was struck from behind by a 2011 Subaru Forester 2.5X Premium being operated by Kenneth G. Piegari, 76, of Sandy Hook.

Piegari, who was also traveling west on Mile Hill, had attempted to pass the Mini Cooper on the left when he struck the vehicle.

According to the police report, Marlin had been traveling forward slowly to avoid a worker in the roadway.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Neither reported injuries.

Neither vehicle’s airbags deployed, and both were operable following the accident.

Piegari was issued an infraction for improper passing and creating a public disturbance.

Flag Stolen

Police are investigating the theft of a flag from a Shut Road residence that occurred between May 31 and June 1. The flag is described as a black and white US flag with a blue line running through it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 203-426-5841.

Found Items

A set of keys with a small flashlight and key fob on the ring was turned in to Newtown Police Department after being found on May 31 on Pond Brook Road.

The owners can claim them by contacting the department at 203-426-5841.
