Chamber Ensemble Seeks Volunteers For Summer Concerts

SHERMAN  — The Sherman Chamber Ensemble (SCE) is seeking volunteers of all ages to assist at concerts during its 2002 summer season.

Young people and others with an interest in classical music will have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of a professional musical organization and take part in the exciting activities of the ensemble during its 20th season. The repertoire for the summer includes works by Schubert, Beethoven, Mozart, Reicha, and Dohnyani, and the world premiere of a new work by composer Edie Hill celebrating the bicentennial of the town of Sherman.

Performances take place in both Kent and Sherman during the weekends of July 12-13, August 9-10 and August 30-31.

Volunteers will help with set-up and technical production, serve as ushers, and perform other tasks necessary to the successful presentation of the ensemble’s concert. Individuals or groups of two or three friends or family members volunteering together may be accommodated. Volunteer scheduling is flexible; participants can sign up for any number of concerts, working around their own schedule.

Community service credit for school or other organizations can  be arranged.

For more information contact SCE at 860-355-6155.
