An Invitation To Truth
To The Editor:
After disclosing why I left the Ku Campaign Committee, I received requests to view the homophobic, racist, anti-youth, Ku campaign texts I disclosed. Someone who read the texts pointed out that the person leading the Ku campaign committee does not reside in Newtown and is not listed on any official papers. Interesting considering Ku emphasizes living in Newtown 16 years.
From Asia, I continued to share the messages and details about an interesting conversation with Ku in my home, and many walked away stunned by what still exists in this "civilized" Newtown world. However, for the sake of full transparency about me, as people reach out, and what I ask for in return, do not ever ask another person to silence me about the long-standing misogyny and underhanded politics at the DTC. A DTC woman did this twice until I responded to her text with a clear “you do not want to mess with me” message. I will never be quiet about the injustice some campaigns run on, and the current state rep Bolinsky enjoys. At this point, I have no respect for DTC nor that other party. Additionally, do not ever ask me to "sit down now". As the DTC ignoramus that did that now knows, I become very unpleasant. All the Masters' degrees and the Law Degree and Yale Divinity education and ministry, etc , did not make me docile. Quite to the contrary.
While I was in Asia, the caucus took place. Brandon Moore came within 20 votes of reshaping Newtown. I told my family weeks prior that Brandon Moore could not win, considering his honest campaign was up against dirty politics. From attempts to stack the nomination votes, to DTC unethically assisting Ku with her campaign, to denying the Young Dems gave notice of their debate to all candidates, and Ku purposely abstained, Moore did not stand a chance, but he came close. He scared the old guard.
Then there was the actual caucus, and I am not surprised to hear that the Ku campaign manager, one on paper, apparently cut off the line of voters, with DTC assistance, once Moore voters showed up. I have heard this several times. So, the DTC is proud to say that there is a united democratic party, thanks to Brandon Moore not primarying Ku. The only truth there is that Brandon Moore is a selfless leader but “united” we are not. During the attempted stacking, I chose to withdraw from DTC membership nomination because I am not complacent and many more non complacent residents are sprouting up. Ku losing again to Mitch Bolinsky, will force DTC to answer some difficult questions about why it chose the same route. It will also have to address why the old guard should not be replaced. That is going to be interesting.
