BRIDGEPORT — Three headliners will join together to raise money for a noble cause.

Andrew Kennedy, Pat Oates, and Michael (Motts) Pellaza will perform at Vinnie Brand’s Stress Factory Comedy Club, 167 State Street in Bridgeport, on Thursday, June 29. Doors open at 6 pm and the show will begin at 7:30.

Tickets are $40 general admission seating, $60 VIP seating, and all proceeds will benefit Saving Babies’ Lives. VIP seating includes one raffle ticket.

Saving Babies’ Lives is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and well-being of babies in Mauritius, a small island-nation in the Indian Ocean, off the east coast of Africa.

Dr Arvin Bundhoo is a neonatologist at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and assistant professor of neonatology and pediatrics at University of Connecticut. He is also from Mauritius. Two months ago, he traveled with Rebecca Kennedy, RN, BSN, and Alexa Gunsolley, RN, BSN, two nurses from St Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. The hope was that the trio — the founders of Saving Babies’ Lives — would begin to educate and train the clinical staff in Mauritius with up-to-date medical procedures and practices, all in an effort to bring down the mortality rate of infants there.

Bundhoo, Kennedy and Gunsolley were so successful that the Mauritian government has fully funded a program to fly and house ten nurses and doctors from Connecticut every three months.

The comedy event on June 29 will raise funds for equipment, supplies, and further training.

National headliners Kennedy, Oates and Pellaza — along with everyone else involved in the performance — are donating their time and talent for the 90-minute show.

A former Newtown resident (whose children still live here), Kennedy has a Comedy Central Special, DryBar Comedy Special, and a comedy album available on ITunes.

Oates is a weekly regular on Connecticut’s popular morning show Chaz & AJ, and had his third comedy album debut on Sirius/XM in March.

Pellaza has been performing comedy for over 45 years and been featured on Impractical Jokers.
