A Wonderful, New Friend

To the Editor:

I hope some will remember me. I wrote a letter here back in April, maybe the 3rd?

I really did not know it was so long! Anyway, I am so happy so many people read it, and took some time to call and message me back. Yes, we are in some very difficult times. Can’t turn on TV without hearing something about the COVID-19 — very, very sad. I even had some friends that recovered, and sadly, a few that did not. OK now; to the reason I write again.

I got many nice messages from many nice people here in Newtown and some close by. But I received a beautiful handwritten card from a woman that used to live here in Newtown. She moved to North Carolina and she still gets The Bee sent to her every week. She liked the letter so much, she copied it and sent to all her friends all over the United States — Wyoming, Minnesota, Colorado, Alaska, and many more states. I just heard my letter was sent overseas to Germany to Army soldiers stationed there. Seems many people shared the letter. I wonder how far it will travel and be read?

Oh! This wonderful new friend of mine is Miss Ann Listokin.

I thank her from the bottom of my heart for her letter. It made me feel so good inside. She told me she grew up on Head of Meadow Road, not too far from me. She did say that if she was still here in Newtown she would definitely stop by my little egg stand. She also stated my outlook has been appreciated by many, many people. I appreciated hearing that. I hope I will meet her niece; she still lives in Newtown. She said at the end of the letter I was able for “taking the bitter with the better!”

In closing, please stop by my little egg place, check out fresh chicken eggs, and also drive down my driveway and check out our nice potted flowers, potted veggies, and of course potted herbs plants. Maybe take a few pots home? Most people appreciate the little guy and helps them vs the bigger stores here in town. I always had the blood for farming and plants. I took down my greenhouses a few years ago. But I had so many requests to grow again I caved in. I got three up now. And maybe next year I will put up my bigger one, too. Plants are limited. Hey, I am not a Home Depot, Big Y, or Lowes.

Thank you, Miss Listokin, my new good friend. You made my day! Hopefully we will meet when you visit your niece.

Wait! One more for the road... she is 90 years old! God bless you, Ann, my new wonderful friend.

(I know she will be reading this letter soon.) Can’t wait to hear from her again.

Sincerely,

Ed Cedor
