Newtown Police Department personnel carried the Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT) torch on its Newtown leg last Friday, the third of three days torches were being carried across the state en route to the SOCT Summer Games.

The Newtown officers, accompanied by Chief James Viadero, traveled from the town line in Bethel, following Dodgingtown Road to Sugar Street, to Glover Avenue, to Queen Street, and then to Church Hill Road.

The 5.4-mile run concluded in the parking lot of Blue Colony Diner, where the torch was picked up for transport via I-84 to Southbury. Its journey continued from there, eventually ending Friday evening in Fairfield for opening ceremonies of the Summer Games.
