St Rose of Lima School’s eighth grade Class of 2019 graduated during a Mass/commencement ceremony held at the school and at St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church on June 8.

The 29 graduates will be heading to different schools in the fall, including Newtown High School, Immaculate High School, St Joseph High School, Fairfield Prep, Holy Cross High School, Oxford High School, Danbury High School, Nonnewaug High School, and Westover School.

The event’s commencement speakers were National Junior Honor Society President Julia Cirone and Student Council President Isabella Corona.

There were many awards announced at the event, including Kyle Getzinger earning the Mary Maloney Scholarship, Isabella Corona earning the Donna DeLuca Scholarship, Julia Cirone earning the Sister Collen Smith Scholarship, Patrick McKenzie and Julia Cirone earning the Charles and Margaret Weiss Scholarship, and Joseph Queenan and Sofia Velez earning the Monsignor Robert Weiss Scholarship.
