Christmas In July

To the Editor:

On Saturday, July 13, the local unit of the Salvation Army will be setting up kettles and ringing bells to raise money for our friends and neighbors in Newtown that need our assistance. Ninety percent of the money raised stays in Newtown to help pay for food, utility bills, auto expenses to get to job interviews, medical expenses, and rent or mortgage payments for those who are struggling to make ends meet. This year, the Newtown Social Services Department informs us that they have an increased need for utility assistance.

How can you help? We need bell ringers for the one day — Saturday, July 13, from 8 am to 3 pm. If you can donate one hour of your time, please contact Anna Wiedemann at aroosterw@yahoo.com or at 203-417-3004 as soon as possible. Also, when you see our kettles around town, please give whatever you can.

Thank you,

Glenn Nanavaty
