Newtown residents Maggie Hemingway, Stefan Toi, and Jen Iassogna – representing Connecticut Splash – registered a number high places at a recent swim meet at Yale University.

Competing against 21 teams from three states, Hemingway won both the 50 and 100 meter freestyles, placed second in the 100 meter backstroke, and was third in 200 meter freestyle and 50 meter backstroke. Toi registered thirds in the 50-meter butterfly, the 50- and 100-meter breaststrokes, and the 200-meter individual medley. Iassogna placed 11th in the 200-meter butterfly and narrowly missed the state meet qualifying time in the 1,500-meter freestyle.

Coach Al Dodson said, “In my 35 years of coaching, I don’t remember a group coming so far in so short a time.”

The team will compete next in a pentathlon meet in East Hartford.
