ARC Offers Interfaith Peace Camp

DANBURY — The Association of Religious Communities (ARC) is again offering the Interfaith Peace Camp for youth ages 9 to 12 this summer.

Throughout the week of camp, the youth and older peer leaders visit different sites of worship to learn about the basic principles of that religious tradition and how these principles bring peace to the world. They will experience crafts and songs inherent to the religion’s tradition and have an opportunity to make new friends and build community with one another through dialogue, fun activities, and games. The week culminates with an interfaith community service project, making 200 lunches for the Dorothy Day Hospitality House.

The program serves to create a deeper understanding and respect among the youth participants, who ultimately become a bridge of understanding among their peers in the greater Danbury community. The camp runs the week of July 11–15, from 9 to 2 pm (except for July 13, when the day will end at 12:30). Healthy snacks and lunches are provided each day. Cost is $50 for the week. Scholarships are available and can be obtained through the Reverend P.J. Leopold, executive director of ARC.

ARC’s Interfaith Peace Camp is a fun filled and enlightening experience that the youth will greatly enjoy and never forget. For further details and to register contact the Reverend Aurora Mary Kilai at ARC, 792-9450.
