No Need For Put-Downs To Build Another Up

To the Editor:

We have been Newtown residents for over 15 years. I am deeply offended by the letter that was published in The Bee last week from Clinton DePaolo.

He states in his letter that it is non-partisan; however; when defaming our wonderful, helpful State Representative Mitch Bolinsky, he fails to mention the fact that he is the rival’s campaign manager! Oops! Must have forgotten to mention that fact.

I am outraged that he would use The Bee to slander one of our best allies and representatives, Mitch Bolinsky. I also wonder when he said that Mitch was silent about the elderly population in nursing homes and COVID-19, if he realizes that one of the reasons Mitch was quiet regarding that issue is because he lost his mother in a local nursing home recently and could not even visit her to say goodbye.

Mitch takes phone calls from his constituents and has not only been a proponent in the mental health field (he got the licensure for Clinical Art Therapists in CT), but he has also written many laws that went into effect regarding human rights, regardless of anyone’s race, religion, or anything else. He is the most honest, kind, hard working, and ethical politician, or even just person, I have ever met. How insecure must the opponent be that they must attack such a hard working person, rather than state his own opponent’s strengths? Maybe he has nothing to say about that.

When I think of the word “integrity” I think of Mitch Bolinsky. His track record says it all. Maybe this DePaolo person should rethink who he represents so he can run an honest campaign. I have never appreciated it when someone has to put down another person to build themselves up, and I hope that Newtown residents concur.

Thank you,
