DUI Arrest

Police report they stopped motorist Richard Pickle, 19, of New Milford at a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Trades Lanes at Fairfield Hills at about 1:52 am on June 20.

After investigating, police charged Pickle with driving under the influence and with driving with a suspended license.

Following his booking on those charges, police released Pickle on $100 bail for a July 1 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Moving Violations

While conducting a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Trades Lane at Fairfield Hills at about 9:40 pm on June 19, police noticed that the vehicle which Tyler Dennett IV, 34, of New Haven was driving did not have a vehicle registration sticker on its front windshield.

Police charged Dennett with driving an unregistered vehicle and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Dennett on a written promise to appear July 1 in Danbury Superior Court.

Botsford Incident

Police report that a Trumbull motorist, who was driving a 2009 Honda Accord sedan on South Main Street about 11:15 am June 5, stopped at a traffic signal at South Main Street’s intersection with Meadow Brook Road and Botsford Hill Road, after which the driver of a 1996 Mazda 626 drove into the rear end of the Honda, police said.

After the Honda driver requested information from the Mazda driver, the Mazda driver left the area without providing that information, police said. There were no injuries in the crash.

Police determined that the Mazda had been stolen from a Stratford owner. Police are investigating.

Street Sign Hit

Motorist Kevin Dufner, 18, of 21 Diamond Drive was driving a 2002 Pontiac Montana minivan westward near 29 Church Hill Road about 2:47 am June 20, when the vehicle drifted to the right and struck some curbing and a street sign for a nearby crosswalk, police report.

Dufner was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

BMW Vs Deer

Motorist Benjamin Neidhart, 28, of Redding was driving a 2007 BMW eastward on Sugar Street, near that road’s intersection with Head O’ Meadow Road, about 8:20 am June 18, when a deer ran out onto the road, resulting in a collision, police said. Neidhart was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Rear-Ender

Motorist Victoria Wilson, 42, of Fairfield, who was driving a 2010 Honda Pilot SUV southward on South Main Street about 6 pm June 23, signaled and stopped to make a left turn into a driveway at 75 South Main Street, after which the Honda was struck from behind by southbound motorist Keith Hoffman, 19, of 14 Maltbie Road, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina sedan, police report.

There were no injuries. Police gave Hoffman an infraction for following too closely.

 Riverside Road

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the driveway entrance of the town’s Multipurpose Center at 14 Riverside Road about 5 pm, on June 11.

The collision occurred when motorist Rose Lindmark, 85, of 29 Wills Road, who was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan, was attempting to exit that driveway, as motorist Matthew Isles, 61, of 7 Black Cherry Lane was driving a Ford Explorer SUV on Riverside Road, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police issued Lindmark a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Toddy Hill

About 2 pm on June 15, motorist Jean Paul Savoie, 36, of Milford, who was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck southward on Toddy Hill Road, near that street’s intersection with Sugarloaf Road, stopped for a school bus, after which the Ford was struck from behind by southbound motorist Ashley Jones, 22, of 14 Deerfield Drive, who was driving a 2001 Volvo S-60 sedan, police report.

There were no injuries. Jones received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Main Street Accident

Police said that at about 11:55 am on June 18, motorist Catherine Nielson, 69, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, was parked on the road shoulder near 77 Main Street and then attempted to enter the flow of traffic onto the street.

But in doing so, the Chrysler collided with motorist Beth McCleary, 38, of 23 The Boulevard, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler southward on Main Street, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Nielson for unsafe movement.

Sedan Vs Sedan

Motorist Christopher Chase, 22, of Cheshire, who was driving a 2009 Subaru Impreza sedan eastward near 51 Church Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Subaru was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Konstantza Popoua, 34, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2007 Honda Civic sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police gave Popoua a written warning for following too closely.

Into the Bushes

Motorist Jennifer Graham, 18, of 32 Old Farm Road, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla sedan northward on Philo Curtis Road about 3 pm June 9, rounded a corner at too high a speed on the wet pavement and the vehicle went out of control, going off the road’s right shoulder, police said.

The Toyota drove through some landscaped bushes, after which Graham left the scene without leaving required information for the property owner, according to police. There were no injuries.

Police said they located to Toyota the following day and issued Graham an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions. Arrangements were made for repair of the damage, police said.

Motorcycle/Deer MVA

About 11:42 pm on June 25, motorcyclist David Zeigler, 25, of Thomaston was riding a 2004 Honda VT-1100-C2 eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Violette Road, when a deer entered the street and struck the motorcycle, police report.

The impact injured Zeigler and damaged the motorcycle. Ambulance volunteers transported Zeigler to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Hawleyville firefighters responded to the crash.

The accident is under investigation.

Car Hits Barrier

About 6:45 am on June 27, motorist Linda Fan, 73, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2000 Toyota sedan at the Newtown Mobil gas station at 62 Church Hill Road, collided with an impact barrier near a gasoline pump there, police report.

Police said that Fan told them that she had experienced problems with the auto’s brakes and accelerator pedal before the accident occurred.

Toyota passenger Jesen Fan, 81, of Woodbury was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital to be checked for neck pain, police said.

Police said they issued Fan a violation concerning automotive insurance coverage.

Bungalow Terrace

About 2:30 pm June 21, trucker Wayne Sharp, 49, of North Haven, while driving a 1999 International tractor-trailer truck on Bungalow Terrace, struck a low-hanging utility cable, snapping the cable, police said. Bungalow Terrace is a side street off Riverside Road in the Riverside section.

Police said they verbally warned Sharp for the violation.

Sugar Street Mishap

Police report that Jose Gonzalez, 40, of Bridgeport was driving a commercial 1999 Hino flatbed truck eastward near 24 Sugar Street about 12:48 pm June 22, when some trees and branches that had been placed on the truck struck a utility cable, causing the cable to fall.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Gonzalez for having an unsecured load.

Multiple Charges

About 4:42 pm June 25, police received a call about an erratic driver traveling in the area of South Main Street, near Borough Lane, so they went there to investigate.

Police said they saw driver Juarez Caetano, 52, of Bridgeport repeatedly drive over the road’s center lines, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police charged him with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, interfering with police, and disorderly conduct.

A records check indicated that there was a pending arrest warrant against Caetano in connection with an August 2008 fishing incident in Bridgeport, police said.

In that case, police charged him with failure to respond to an infraction and with illegal possession of flounder.

Police released Caetano on bail for a July 13 court appearance in Danbury and a July 14 court appearance in Bridgeport.

Mailbox Mayhem

Sometime between 1 pm on June 21, and 7:30 am on June 22, someone vandalized multiple curbside residential mailboxes on White Oak Farm Road and Hundred Acres Road, police report. Police ask anyone with information on the criminal mischief to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Three Charges

Police report they stopped a vehicle driven by Brent Pascal, 26, of Bridgeport on South Main Street, near its intersection with Elizabeth Street, about 7:18 pm June 28 to investigate.

Police charged Pascal with driving with a suspended vehicle registration, failure to have automotive insurance, and failure to display a front marker plate.

Police released Pascal on a written promise to appear July 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

Loud Party

Police report that at about 12:25 am June 29, they received a report of a loud party occurring at 32 Charter Ridge Drive in Sandy Hook, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they encountered multiple motor vehicles parked on the roadway near that house.

After investigating, police charged Sean White, 19, of Southbury with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police released White on $100 bail for a July 13 court appearance.

Police said they issued an infraction ticket to Domenick Tramontozzi, Jr, 18, of 15 Tamarack Road, charging him with possession of alcohol by a minor on a roadway.

Police said that charge carries a $136 fine and poses the potential for a driver’s license suspension.

Great Quarter

Police said they responded to a report of an attempted burglary into a detached garage on Great Quarter Road at about 10:26 pm on June 16.

Police said that after the burglar realized that he was being watched, he fled the scene. The burglar was described as a man about 40 years old with a large build who has  short, light brown hair.

Police ask anyone who knows the burglar’s identity to contact Officer Scott Smith at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Flagpole Crash

Motorist Robert Dennis, 64, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango SUV about 11 am June 20, attempted to turn left from westbound Church Hill Road onto southbound Main Street, but in doing so he did not see the Main Street flagpole and struck the flagpole with the right side of the SUV, police said.

Dennis was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

DUI Arrest

At about 8:12 am June 28, police responded to the area of 45 Main Street after receiving a report of an erratic driver traveling in the area.

After investigating, police charged motorist Thomas Gallagher, 51, of Danbury with driving under the influence, failure to keep prescription medication in its original container, driving with a suspended license, and failure to return a suspended license to the state.

After processing, police released Gallagher on $100 bail for a July 13 court appearance.

Keys Found

On June 25, a set of keys, including house keys and vehicle keys, was found lying near the intersection of Currituck Road and Butterfield Road. Police are holding the keys for safekeeping. The owner may claim the keys by contacting Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Dodgingtown Vandalism

Sometime during the weekend of June 25–June 27, someone spray-painted graffiti on some garbage dumpsters at The Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Dodgingtown Center. Police are investigating the criminal mischief and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at the police station.

Road Rage

Police report they were called to a Palestine Road residence about 10:16 pm on June 29 concerning a man who was causing a disturbance there.

Police said their investigation showed that the man had been involved in a road rage incident. The man allegedly had tried to gain entry to the house and in the process had pushed a female there to the ground, police said. Also, the man allegedly had stated that he was an off-duty police officer, police said.

Police said they charged John F. Bingham, 58, of 16 Mt Nebo Road with first-degree criminal trespassing, impersonating a police officer, and breach of peace.

Police said they released Bingham on $1,000 bail for a July 13 court appearance.

Dodgingtown

Police said they stopped motorist Christy Muehlfeld, 30, of Bethel near 61 Dodgingtown Road at about 5 pm on June 29 to investigate.

Police said they charged Muehlfeld with driving without a front marker plate, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and driving without automotive insurance.

Muehlfeld was released on a written promise to appear July 13 in Danbury Superior Court.

South Main Street

Motorist David Crevier, 62, of Chicopee, Mass., was driving a 2006 Dodge Stratus sedan which is owned by the Connecticut state government northward on South Main Street at about 3:40 pm June 28, when he took his eyes off the road and did not see that a vehicle in front of him had stopped for another vehicle that was making a left turn onto Park Lane, police said.

Crevier then steered to the right, but struck some guardrailing, police said. Crevier was not injured. Police verbally warned him for following too closely.
