Newtown Bridge Club Grateful For Success Of Event
To The Editor:
On Tuesday, June 9, Newtown Bridge Club held its tenth annual fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association at Edmond Town Hall. Twenty tables of bridge players joined us for both the morning and afternoon games. In addition to the in-person games, we hosted online games on BBO this past weekend. Our companion Scrabble tournaments, with 40 Scrabblers, were run by our bridge club member Cornelia Guest at Valley Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 25.
We greatly appreciate The Bee’s article in the June 19th edition, which highlighted our fundraiser.
Thank you to each of our generous sponsors for their continued support: Bagel Delight, Big Y, Caraluzzi's, Dunkin' and Stop & Shop!
With the bridge and Scrabble entry fees, plus donations from players, other club members, family and friends, we were able to raise over $27,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. The association supports those living with dementia and their caregivers, and it advances research which hopefully will find a prevention and/or a cure for this terrible disease.
Newtown Bridge Club holds three ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games every week in the Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:30 pm. Bridge lessons are offered on a regular basis for players of all levels. For more information about the bridge club, please contact Club Manager Susan Fronapfel at 203-733-8525 or visit www.newtownbridge.org.
