To the Editor:strosechurch.com for a full list of the many who deserve our thanks.

A word of thanks for all the support we received from the Newtown and neighboring communities that helped make our 2017 the most successful carnival ever. I begin by thanking God for the blessing of good weather for all five evenings the carnival was opened. It was amazing how it rained on one side of Church Hill Road on Friday evening, and we saw only a few drops fall on us. Nothing came to a stop in spite of some weather threats throughout the day. I am also most grateful to the St Rose parishioner volunteers who made everything run very smoothly; we are blessed by their energy and support of the parish. We are especially grateful to Stewart Amusement for their professionalism and safety, to the Newtown Police Department for their vigilance, and to the Newtown Hook & Ladder for their presence.

Good food is always the hallmark of a great event, and we thank each and every one of the restaurants and caterers for their generous donations. We thank also the many businesses and professionals who supported us by their patronage, as well as the many parishioner families who supported the carnival as sponsors. Please visit

We are truly blessed to be able to provide this event for the community. It is a wonderful reunion of old friends and the possibility of new acquaintances, mixed with lots of laughs and the sounds of excitement and, above all, a safe and good time to enjoy the blessings we have been given. To everyone who supported us in any way, my personal thanks. See you June 19-23, 2018!

God bless.

Monsignor Robert Weiss, Pastor

St Rose of Lima Parish
