Kickoff To Summer Reading

To the Editor:

This year the C.H. Booth Library had the annual summer reading kickoff program and Friends of the Library Children’s Book Sale at Newtown High School on June 25.

Needless to say it was the hottest day of the summer and all were cool and comfortable inside the high school lobby and auditorium. I know everyone who attended was pleased with our spacious accommodations.

This is traditionally the best attended program of the year, and we knew that many of the 300-plus children and adults who planned to attend would not find a place to park or a seat for the performance if it were held at the library. I would like to thank Bill Manfredonia for allowing us to use the high school, Mary Ann Corbo, for her help coordinating the event, and John Verbanic and his staff for setting up the space and making everything run smoothly.

The Friends of the Library also extend their thanks and appreciation for a great book sale.

Sincerely,

Alana Meloni
