A Successful Kickoff

Tournament

To the Editor:

As directors of the Newtown Soccer Club’s 26th Annual Kickoff Tournament, we would like to thank all of those who helped with this successful event.

We would especially like to thank those people who led committees for this event: Lisa Carotti, Barb Jagoe, Anne Kugielsky, Maggie Mahoney, Kim Mather, Jeff Meyer, Jill Mossbarger, Peggy Murphy, Michele Ovendorf, and Liz Raftery. Their time and effort for this event was incredible.

There were many parents, players, and students who volunteered their time also. We appreciated all of you too. These volunteers attended monthly meetings, provided snacks for the coaches reception, sold T-shirts, worked at registration and worked on the fields as referees or field managers. The tournament would not have been possible without you. Mark Tolla plays such an important role in the entire Soccer Club and puts countless hours into administrating the club. We graciously thank him for his continued efforts to make this such a successful event in Newtown.

In hosting approximately 1,500 players and their families, we had to rely on many of the town’s resources. We would like to thank Edmond Town Hall for the use of meeting rooms for planning, the Booth Library for letting us use their conference room for registration and Parks and Recreation for helping us coordinate and set up the fields. Special thanks goes out to the Newtown Police Department and the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance personnel for their efforts in keeping all safe.
