Newtown High School’s Ultimate Frisbee club team, The Ducks, competed this spring and placed third in division B at the Connecticut Ultimate Frisbee State Tournament held at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville. The team was led by senior captains Connor Faxon, Tyler Harrison, and Harrison Silverman and is coached by Newtown High School math teacher Chris Pearson, who played Ultimate Frisbee at the University of Delaware.

“It is a great sport, where the students/players do the officiating on the field. They form a great bond not only amongst the team, but also with the players from the other teams. They finish every game with a share/spirit circle where both teams circle up together, and give compliments and shout-outs to players who made great plays on the other teams,” said Trent Harrison, a parent assistant with The Ducks.

“The team did an amazing job this year having only a handful of players who played last season. Chris did an excellent job of teaching and inspiring the new players to excel to the point where they came in third in the state in the B division,” Harrison added.
