To The Editor:

I was surprised to learn this past week that the town transfer station was open on July 4th, even though it had been closed on the previous day in observance of Independence Day.

I don’t know the reason for this odd scheduling decision, but it would have been decent to give these hardworking town employees both Friday and Saturday off to enjoy the weekend and celebrate our country’s 250th birthday.

I hope the responsible parties will consider this in the future.
