Thomas Ira Mead, Jr, 47, of Southbury died unexpectedly on July 7, in Torrington. He was born July 5, 1970, in Norwalk, a son of Linda (Sonntag) Mead and the late Thomas I. Mead, Sr.

He had owned and operated Tom Mead Refuse Company in Newtown for over 20 years.

In addition to his mother, his two brothers, William and Robert Mead, a niece, and two nephews survive him.

Family will receive friends in the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, July 11, from 6 to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Peter Church, 104 Main Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, July 12, at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Bethel.
