John “Jack” Joseph Leitner, of Newtown, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, at the age of 87. He was born on September 1, 1932, in Teaneck, N.J. He was the oldest son of John and Margaret Leitner.

He is survived by wife of 63 years, Luella (McDermott); sister, Barbara; brother, Joseph; children, Mary, John, Monica, and Mark; grandchildren, Teresa, Clare, Joe, Molly, Jack, Thomas, Patrick, and Jennifer; and great-grandchild, Oscar.

Jack graduated from Fordham University, served in the Army, and had a career in sales, primarily at Uniroyal, Inc. He was active in Knights of Columbus for many years and coached Newtown Pop Warner football for 20 years.

Funeral services (private) are at 11 am on Friday, July 17, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. Interment is at St Rose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St Rose or Knights of Columbus Council #185.
