Streetlamp Vandalism
Police report an incident in which several youths used BB-gun weapons to shoot out streetlamps in the area of West Street and Roosevelt Drive at about 10:30 pm on Monday, June 30.
After responding to that area, police found that the gunfire had shattered two lenses on streetlamp fixtures.
Police are investigating the property damage and ask anyone with knowledge of the criminal mischief to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Intersection Crash
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Hanover Road and Schoolhouse Hill Road about 1 pm on July 2.
In that incident, motorist Michael Calderoni, 19, of Westport, who was driving a 1993 Honda coupe, entered the intersection without stopping at a stop sign and then collided with a 2002 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Joann Tortorice, 57, of Brookfield, according to police.
Tortorice reported pain, but refused medical attention, police said. Calderoni received an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign, according to police.
Taunton Accident
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection on Taunton Hill Road and Taunton Ridge Road at about 12:45 pm on July 6.
That collision involved motorist Charles Bronson, 21, of 17 Sturges Road, who was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry sedan, and motorist Susan Norwell, 73, of 15 Taunton Ridge Road, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Bronson received a written warning for unsafe passing, according to police.
I-84 Collision
State police said that at about 6:25 pm on July 7, motorist Kristopher Bevan, 21, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2002 Subaru Legacy, lost control of the vehicle on westbound Interstate 84, just west of Exit 13 near the Rochambeau Bridge, after which the Subaru struck a construction barrel and some metallic guardrailing.
Bevan was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.
Moving Violations
Police report they investigated a motor vehicle accident without injuries that occurred near the inter-section of Taunton Hill Road, Great Hill Road, and Plumtrees Road late on the night of July 7.
Police said they charged motorist Nathan Norwich, 20, of 13 Overlook Knoll Road with making a re-stricted turn and with driving under suspension.
Norwich was released on a written promise to appear in court on the charges, police said.
Vandalism
Sometime between the evening of Monday, July 7, and the morning of Tuesday, July 8, someone used spray paint to deface with graffiti several motor vehicles and several curbside residential mailboxes in the Wills Road area, police said.
Wills Road is a residential street that links South Main Street to Orchard Hill Road.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of who did the property damage to contact them at the police sta-tion at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Evading
State police report that at about 1:35 am on July 10, an unknown vehicle which was traveling east-ward on Interstate 84 about one-half mile west of Exit 10, lost a mudflap which then collided with a 2012 Volkswagen Golf driven by a Portland man. The Portland man was not injured.
The vehicle that caused the accident could not be located, state police said.
Hawleyville Accident
An accident occurred on westbound Mt Pleasant Road at its intersection with Hawleyville Road at about 9:26 am on July 10.
In that incident, motorist Jean Etienne, 24, of Stratford, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Versa, rolled forward and struck the rear end of a 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by Mara Tabares, 44, of Ridgefield, police said.
Police said that Versa passenger Nicole Guertin, 35, of Danbury was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police said they verbally warned Etienne for following too closely.
Warrant Surrender
After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, a 17-year-old female went to the police station on the afternoon of July 10 and was arrested on charges of third-degree larceny and conspiracy, police said.
Police said the arrest stems from unspecified incidents that occurred from January through March.
Police said they released the youth on a written promise to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on July 28. Because the person charged is under age 18, police did not disclose the person’s identity.
Sedan Leaves Road, Collides With Tree
A 2002 Honda Accord sedan received heavy damage in a one-car accident that occurred about 1:40 am on July 10 on Huntingtown Road, near Maltbie Road.
Police said motorist Amy Dickinson, 45, of 4 Mountain Laurel Lane was driving the Honda northward on Huntingtown Road, when the vehicle veered off the left road shoulder and then struck a tree.
Botsford Fire Rescue volunteer firefighters responded to the scene and extricated Dickinson from the vehicle after removing a door from it. Dickinson was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.
Dickinson received an infraction for failure to drive to the right, police report.

Highway Accident
At about 4:40 pm on July 10, motorist Cherylee Herman, 60, of Canton, who was driving a 2007 Honda CRV SUV eastward in Interstate 84, about 500 feet east of Exit 9, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Dean Murphy, 29, of Oakville, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-350 welding truck, state police said.
There were no injuries. Murphy received an infraction for following too closely, state police said.
Two Charges
Police report that they stopped a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer auto driven by motorist John Dosky, 22, of 15 Jeremiah Road at about 6:06 pm on July 12 to investigate near 4 Toddy Hill Road.
Police said they charged Dosky with failure to display a marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.
After processing, police released Dosky on $100 bail for a July 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Three Offenses
Police report that on the evening of July 13, Frank Lusardo, 50, of 32 Aunt Park Lane was seen driving away from the police station parking lot at high speed while speaking on a handheld cellphone, so they pursued him. Lusardo refused to pull over, police said.
Police said they later came into contact with Lusardo at Papoose Hill Road, after which they charged him with engaging police in pursuit, traveling too fast for conditions, and speaking on a handheld cellphone while driving.
Following arrest processing, police released Lusardo on $2,000 bail for a July 22 court appearance.
Keys Found, Cellphone Also Located
Police report that at about 4:30 pm on July 13, a person who was running on Pocono Road in Hawleyville found a set of keys on that road near the Brookfield town line.
Also on July 13, a Samsung brand cellphone was found on South Main Street, near its intersection with Mile Hill Road.
Police are holding the keys and cellphone for safekeeping, and ask that anyone with information on who owns either item to contact Sergeant Douglas Wisentaner at the police station, 203-426-5841.
Off The Road, On The Roof
At about 8:36 pm on July 13, motorist Jonathan Mattarolo, 30, of 73 Castle Hill Road was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar minivan westward on Church Hill Road, just west of its intersection with Dayton in Sandy Hook Center, when front-seat passenger Benjamin Mattarolo, 28, of the same address, grabbed the vehicle’s steering wheel and then jerked it, police said.
Jonathan Mattarolo then lost control of the vehicle and it went off the right road shoulder and struck some objects at a construction site, police said. The vehicle then struck an embankment and a stone wall and rolled over on its roof, police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Benjamin Mattarolo to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.
Police said that after investigating the crash, they charged Benjamin Mattarolo with first-degree reck-less endangerment. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on July 22.
Nissan vs Dodge
At about 12:48 pm on July 14, motorist William Chabb, 64, of Verbank, N.Y., who was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck southward near 113 South Main Street, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist James Gioffe, Jr, 45, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2012 Nisan Altima sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Gioffe a written warning for following too closely.
Warrant Arrest
Police report that on July 14 they arrested a 17-year-old female on a warrant, charging her with conspiracy in connection with a case of third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny.
A May 11 complaint to police triggered their investigation which resulted in their obtaining a court warrant for the arrest.
Police released the female on a written promise to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on July 21. Because the person charged is under age 18, police did not release the woman’s name.
SUV vs SUV
At about 3 pm on July 14, motorist Kathleen Palmer, 36, of Danbury was driving a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder SUV westward on Berkshire Road and then stopped for a red traffic signal at that road’s intersection with Toddy Hill Road, according to police.
Westbound motorist Sapna Shah, 31, of Stamford, who was driving a 2007 Honda CVRV SUV, then struck the rear end of the Nissan, police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members went to the scene; both drivers refused medical attention, police said. Sandy Hook volunteer firefighters also responded.
Police said they issued Shah an infraction for following too closely.
Three Vehicle Accident
Police report a three-vehicle accident at the congested intersection of South Main Street, Country Club Road and Mile Hill Road about 9 am on July 15.
The incident involved motorist June Shelby, 51, of 301 South Main Street, who was driving a 2002 Saturn L-series sedan, motorist Elijah Pettway, 35, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala sedan, and motorist Suzanne Bohn, 48, of Redding, who was driving a 2012 GMC Acadia SUV, police said.
Pettway was transported by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members to Danbury Hospital for pain treatment, police said, Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters responded to the incident.
Police said Shelby received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
SUVs Collide On Berkshire Road
Police report that motorist Nicholas Balakier, 18, of 23 Paugussett Road, who was driving a 2009 Jeep Compass SUV, was attempting to exit the parking lot at Misty Vale Deli to make a left turn onto eastbound Berkshire Road, as motorist Lauren Samson, 47, of 4 Kelly Court was driving a 2010 Honda Pilot SUV westward on Berkshire Road at about 11:58 am on July 15.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries.
Police said they issued Balakier an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

Sugar Street Deer Strike
Police report that at about 7:40 pm on July 15, motorist Robin Morgan, 51, of 56 Dodgingtown Road was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westward on Sugar Street, near its intersection with Rock Ridge Road, when a deer entered the roadway, resulting in a collision.
Morgan was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
