The Newtown Bee is asking local residents to submit photos and descriptions of their life, whether abroad or at home. Submissions will run as space allows in an upcoming edition.

This will be an ongoing featured item in the pages of The Newtown Bee for the foreseeable future. The local newspaper has been chronicling town happenings since 1877, and, with the help of residents, we hope to capture today’s changing world through these submitted images.

The deadline to submit photos for each week’s paper is each Wednesday at noon. To submit a photo, e-mail the image to reporter Eliza Hallabeck, eliza@thebee.com, with a brief description, including the names of those pictured.

Vacationing In Rhode Island

Sandy Hook resident Gloria Markey recently vacationed in Middletown, R.I., at a home that has been in her family for five generations, her daughter Regina Markey shared. Gloria and her dog Franklin practiced social distancing from others during their stay.

A Special Visit To Mystic

In place of a trip to Disney World, Sandy Hook resident Kris Schwartz and his wife Heather celebrated their 13-year anniversary by spending the day, July 7, in Mystic with their daughter, Jocelyn. While there they made sure to visit the local drawbridge.

Pond Fun

Newtown resident Wendy Humphries said in an e-mail on July 15 that her children, Nate and Emmy Humphries, have been having fun discovering frogs in a pond near their home. The children have been learning of the life cycle of frogs and other fun facts, she added. “My son thought he could share what he’s doing with his sister to keep busy!” Humphries wrote in the e-mail.
