Richard Walter Tuttle, age 81, beloved husband of Katherine Casey Tuttle of Monroe, died peacefully on July 20, 2019, at St Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born in Kingsbury, Maine, on January 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Harold and Gertrude O. Gourley Tuttle.

Mr Tuttle was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and worked as a foreman and manager for the Sturm, Ruger, & Co of Southport for 34 years until his retirement in 2000. An avid outdoorsman, sportsman, and naturalist, he loved the great outdoors — a passion instilled within him in his younger years residing in rural Maine. Mr Tuttle handcrafted detailed birdhouses to resemble your home and enjoyed tending to his garden and maintaining his meticulous yard and landscape.

He will be long remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that freely gave his time to his family and friends to help in any way possible.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Catherine (Robert) Wojiski of Newtown and Susan (David) Forte of Monroe; sister, Marion (Lionel) Goodrich of Killingworth; a brother, James (Sheryl) Tuttle of Florida; brothers-in-law, Albert “Sonny” Martin of Maine and Paul (Jeanette) Casey of Bridgeport; cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Bond, Sarah Bond, Jessica Wojiski, Brianna (fiancé Jennifer) Forte, and David Forte; great-grandchildren, Cullen and Hadley Bond and Julianna Rossi; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters Virginia (Robert) Lashon and Anna Martin.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, July 27, 2019, in St Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, 54 Jockey Hollow Road, Monroe CT 06468.

The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, is in care of arrangements.
